Datatax made a name for itself by commercializing the open-source NoSQL database Apache Cassandra, but the company is currently focused solely on leveraging its database capabilities to create a “universal GenAI stack.” One of the first building blocks for this was the introduction of vector search capabilities into its hosted Astra DB service last summer. Since then, the company has expanded its stack to build GenAI applications backed by Retrival-Augmented Generation (RAG), and today the company announced its next stop in that direction, announcing that it had acquired Logspace, the company behind LangflowA low-code tool for building RAG-based applications.
DataStax did not disclose the acquisition price.
Log space launched in 2022 with a mission to help enterprises adopt machine learning. In the beginning, the company was more of a consulting company than a product company. Logspace co-founder and CEO Rodrigo Nader previously worked on machine learning problems at enterprise artificial intelligence company Bitvore with co-founder and CTO Gabriel Luis Freitas Almeida. They self-funded the company, and by 2023, the founding team launched Langflow, which quickly gained some popularity as an early, low-code, open-source, no-code tool for building GenAI applications.

The DataStax team says this acquisition effectively completes its efforts to build a universal generative AI stack. Finally, it can now offer its users a single tool that combines built-in connections to Astra’s own DB DataStax database and tools such as the LangChain and LlamaIndex toolkit for connecting various data sources, with an easy-to-use visual editor for creating GenAI chatbots. for indoor and outdoor use.
Langflow will continue to operate as a separate entity, so existing users will not notice any immediate changes.
